Provisioning Methods in Ariadne

In Ariadne, users and groups can be created in three different ways. The source determines how you can manage them.

Active Directory (AD) Import

Enterprise only

Users and groups are imported from your Active Directory at a defined path. Central management takes place in your AD – in Ariadne you cannot modify, deactivate, or activate these users and groups.

Nested groups: Supported ✓

Azure AD Import

Users and groups are imported from your Azure AD. Central management takes place in your Azure environment – in Ariadne you cannot modify, deactivate, or activate these users and groups.

Nested groups: Not supported

Local Ariadne Users

Users and groups are created directly in Ariadne's user or group management. You can fully manage these users: invite them, deactivate, activate, reset passwords, and change email addresses.

Where Does a User Come From? How to Identify Them

For Azure AD and Active Directory

Go to Tools > User Management and open the user you want to check. Click the three-dot menu (⋯).

Three-dot menu in User Management

If this text is displayed, the user is imported from your Azure AD or AD. You cannot manage them in Ariadne – contact your internal IT department.

For Local Ariadne Users

Open the three-dot menu (⋯) for the same user.

Edit options for local users

If you see these options, the user is a local Ariadne user. You can manage them directly in Ariadne.
